| Anne
Shutan creates one-of-a-kind pieces of sculpture and furniture, affirming
the sensuous nature of wood. Shutan's work is sought by collectors around
the country who know they are buying treasures that will be around for
generations.
Anne enlivens
each piece with her extraordinary wit and craftsmanship. After studying
the fundamentals of her craft for several years, Shutan opened her own
studio in Colorado. In 1985, an interior designer was so taken with
her work she introduced Shutan to the master woodworker and sculptor,
Jan DeSwart. There was an instant rapport. At the end of their first
meeting he said, "Finally, you are the person that i will share
my secrets with." Shutan moved to Los Angeles and was DeSwart's
protege until his death in 1987.
Shutan
continues to expand her skills un creating unique works of art in wood.
